Another Presque Isle / 2 ride day

Another Presque Isle, another slight disappointment, another 'punishment' ride after.

I got up at 5am today to drive up to Presque Isle for the fathers day TT. I have a goal this year of finishing this course at 26mph or better. I started out of the gate and by about 1 minute into it, I looked down and was registering 28.5mph. While that is exciting, it is all adrenaline so I promptly slowed down to 26mph and attempted to set the cruise control on 26-26.5mph. That worked out well until about mile 5 where there is some slight up and downs. By mile 6 I was really starting to hurt and getting agitated because I wasn't able to keep pushing the pedals in the gear I needed to maintain 26. I was pedaling at 24.5mph for quite a while and would try to drop a gear or speed up my cadence but just couldn't hold it. At mile marker 10 I was hoping the time would fly by because I was ready to be done. There was some openings in the trees that enabled a decent cross/head wind to further aggravate me. I then emptied the tank with about 3/4 of a mile left and felt sick for 10 seconds after finishing. My finishing time was somewhere around 29:50 for the 12.5 miles, with a Avg speed of 25.2mph. This is quite short of my goal.

I noticed that I am not able to sustain power on my TT bike like I think I should so I called Bike Authority today to visit Mike Vanucci for a Slow Twitch TT bike fitting. I am hoping we are able to figure out my position to allow me to better put power down to the pedals. I will then adapt to the new position prior to Tour of the Valley and continue doing Leroy to see how I improve there.

After the TT, I rode from Chardon down to Southington (through Burton, Jug St, Grove Rd, into Nelson past the ledges, around the race course, and then 305 to my parents house). I met/rode in Burton for a few miles with a Ben from Chesterland who is a quite strong "recreational" rider, until I found out he just completed a SOLO 6 day, 650 mile ride from Chesterland Ohio to Tennessee to meet his friends for a concert, insane.
